Of Baby T and Bailey

Last year, i had a great time at the National Dog Walk 2007 where i did my first ever frisbee demo (can you believe S was actually pregnant with Baby T when we were doing all those back vaults?!). This year, there were fun activities and agility trials held during the NDW but i wasn't involved because the event spans the entire day from 9am-5pm (the agility trials were from 1pm onwards) and Baby T was due to be baptised in the late afternoon on that same day! Bummer, bummer, BUMMER!

As far as i'm concerned, Bailey (Super Bailey, in fact) was the star of this year's NDW! I've seen him complete the superweaver at the speed of lightning (60 weave poles, OMDOG!) and he's getting better and better with those frisbee tricks!!!! Once i lay my paws on those videos, i'll post them up here!

I'd like to claim some credit for his vast improvement though....

Can you see how intense and focussed Bailey was back then when he was still a puppy?! And now this youngster flies higher than me!!! Way to go, Super Bailey!!

Me teaching Bailey the essence of being a Frisbee Master. The nerve of him to be dozing off!!!

Okkkkaaaaayyy....i admit i didn't do much for Bailey to become Super Bailey. It's all thanks to Mr. Smartdoggy who spent so much time training him! The humans always mockingly scold Mr. Smartdoggy for being a showoff with Bailey but i guess if they had a dog like him, they'd be showoffs themselves too!!

Although i didn't get to go to the NDW 2008, the humans brought my lil' brother to check out the action (BOO!). I was a tad jealous because i didn't want Baby T mixing around with strange dogs! He reeked of weird and smelly dogs when he came home and i wasn't too pleased until the humans showed me this:

Looks like Baby T only shares a connection with me..tee hee hee!! Even though he's getting rather chubby, i shall strive to constantly remind myself: He ain't heavy, he's my brother!! :)

Re: fur
Nah you look gorgeous with your fur.

It's like this. My momma was thinking of shaving me clean to let new fur grow before bring me for a studio shoot for my birthday next jan! I can't wait for it and I'm super excited and looking forward to that day to arrive. But I would agree to that only if my coat looks magnificent by then. Otherwise I will NEVERRRRRRRR wanna go shave off my precious fur. How? ):

Re: fur
Who are u btw? Do i know you in real life? :)

To be honest, i wouldn't allow anyone to shave me....UNLESS i have very bad skin problem or have totally messy, matted fur. Shaving can permanently damage hair follicles and can cause patchy fur growth depending on the condition of your coat and skin!!! Being furless can expose our skin to the merciless UV rays too!!

When i go for grooming, my human gets the groomer to remove my undercoat, give me a bath, and finally blow dry (GRRR! Hate that!)....and i'm much cooler (in every sense of the word)! My top coat (the guard hair) is left alone and this protects me from the nasty sun! Double coated dogs like us BC only need so little to look THAT good! :)))

So yeah, i'd say NO SHAVE (but that's only my unprofessional opinion)! :)))

Re: fur
No you don't but I emailed you before once.

My fur is pretty coarse and it gets matted easily because I like to lick my fur and it gets messy and knotted that way. Even after regular brushing, my fur still doesn't seem to see a reduce in knots because everytime my mom brushes me, it'll just get messed up again by my tongue!

Mom was thinking of shaving me partly because of the hot weather, and partly because my fur quality is getting pretty bad and dry.

So you mean despite these I still shouldn't shave? Point to note is that I'm scared of the cold, so shaving would make me feel naked and my confidence level will plunge. Plus my hotness level (muahahaha!) will decrease drastically. ):

Re: fur
Are u the brown and white BC that i had a glimpse of at one of the SKC dog show? :)

I guess if your fur is matted and knotted badly, then shaving would be a good idea....but i can't guarantee it wouldn't be the same when your fur regrows again!

Actually, the top coat (for us double coated dogs) protects us from the sun and insulate us against the heat too...so shaving doesn't really mean we'll be cooler in this terrible weather!

If you decide to shave but feel cold after that, get your humans to buy you a nice, warm sweater and you'll feel better for sure! :D

Re: fur
Yeah you mentioned seeing me before, but I didn't see you! I enjoyed myself there because for the first time in my entire life I saw sooo many BCs there.

Do you think I should trim my fur short instead of going for a shave? Because since the fur helps keep the UV rays out, I think I'd still want some of my coat on me!

Re: fur
I can't decide for you because i dunno the state of your coat! Why don't you try going to the groomers, having your undercoat removed and then get them to tidy up your coat a lil' with a trim? :)

FurnAway do BCs well! Give them a try! :)
